Heritage Crossing Celebrates First Anniversary
Santa Fe, TX — Heritage Crossing celebrated its first anniversary on July 2 with a party attended by residents and their friends and families. Festivities included a flag-raising ceremony and a tribute by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW), who donated the flag and flagpole. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of our residents led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and then a jovial lunch was enjoyed by all.
What a spirited and patriotic group of residents!
The Overlook at Plum Creek Groundbreaking
On June 5, 2012, DMA broke ground on a 94-unit Age 55+ apartment community, The Overlook at Plum Creek, located in the highly successful Plum Creek master planned community in Kyle, Texas. Financed through the Housing Tax Credit program, The Overlook will include 80 affordable units and 14 market rate units, all for Age 55+. The community is expected to be ready for occupancy in late spring 2013.
Following the ceremonial event, DMA hosted lunch at the Kyle Senior Center for seniors and groundbreaking guests!
Diana McIver receives the Austin AIA Community Vision Award
On April 13, 2012, Diana McIver, founder and President of DMA Companies, received the Austin AIA Community Vision Award for her leadership in promoting and developing quality, innovative, affordable housing in the Austin Community. “Diana McIver and her amazing staff approach every project with thoughtfulness, grace, and attention to detail,” said Kelly Weiss, Executive Director, Austin Habitat for Humanity. “Wildflower Terrace is no exception. This project exhibits exquisite design and serves such an important community need — affordable senior living.”
Wildflower Terrace Grand Opening
On May 1, 2012, DMA Development Company celebrated the Grand Opening of Wildflower Terrace, a 201-unit mixed-income residential community serving Age 55+ in the new Mueller Redevelopment neighborhood in Austin, TX. Among the 150 people on hand were honored guests Texas State Representative Dawnna Dukes, City Council Member Mike Martinez, and TDHCA Board Member Lowell Keig. Wildflower Terrace was financed through the Housing Tax Credit Program with Housing Tax Credits issued by TDHCA and purchased by RBC Housing Capital. Construction lending was provided by Chase Bank and permanent financing was provided by Enterprise Mortgage.
Following the speeches and ribbon-cutting, guests were treated to an art collage project in the Wildflower Art Studio, enjoyed Caricatures by Kevin in the Theater, and took tours of the building and model units, complete with a light lunch of sandwiches, delicious empanadas, and a cupcake bar.

Grand Opening for Samuel J Simmons Estates, Washington, DC
On May 3, DMA Development — along with its partner the National Center and Caucus on Black Aged, Inc. (NCBA) — celebrated the re-dedication of Samuel J. Simmons Estates, a 175 affordable senior development in Washington, DC.
DMA and NCBA collaborated in the redevelopment of this 10-story multifamily structure, which was originally built in 1981. Financed with New Issue Bonds from the DC Housing Finance Corporation and 4% Housing Credits issued by DC and purchased by Boston Capital, the partners accomplished a major reconstruction of this former HUD Section 202 project. Construction commenced in January 2011 and was completed in January 2012.

First Residents Move Into Wildflower Terrace!
On December 16th, the first residents moved into Wildflower Terrace — a mixed-income community for ages 55+ located in the exciting Mueller Redevelopment community in Austin, TX. Construction is being completed in phases. The first phase, including 24 residential units plus leasing and community spaces, opened for business in December. The entire 201-unit community is expected to be completed in early March 2012.
Heritage Crossing Grand Opening
State Representative Larry Taylor, Mayor Ralph Stenzel, and Texas Department of Housing & Community Affairs (TDHCA) Board Chair J Paul Oxer were all on hand to cut the ribbon — “officially” opening Heritage Crossing, a 72-unit senior community in Santa Fe, Texas. A partnership between the Southeast Texas Housing Finance Corporation and DMA Development Company, Heritage Crossing was financed with TDHCA HOME and Exhange Program Funds. The first units were occupied in July 2011.
Housing Tax Credits Awarded for Senior Community in Midlothian
At its September 15th Board Meeting, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) allocated $1,012,000 in Housing Tax Credits to DMA Development Company for the development of The Terrace at MidTowne, a 92-unit senior community to be located on George Hopper amid the MidTowne Planned Community in Midlothian, Texas. The Terrace will feature a two-story elevator building with community amenities and offer 52 units and 40 college units with attached carports.
DMA closed on the 7-acre parcel in December and construction is expected to being in April 2012. Architectural services are being provided by Nelsen Partners of Austin, while construction is being handled by Carleton Construction of Dallas.
