Grand Opening for Samuel J Simmons Estates, Washington, DC
On May 3, DMA Development — along with its partner the National Center and Caucus on Black Aged, Inc. (NCBA) — celebrated the re-dedication of Samuel J. Simmons Estates, a 175 affordable senior development in Washington, DC.
DMA and NCBA collaborated in the redevelopment of this 10-story multifamily structure, which was originally built in 1981. Financed with New Issue Bonds from the DC Housing Finance Corporation and 4% Housing Credits issued by DC and purchased by Boston Capital, the partners accomplished a major reconstruction of this former HUD Section 202 project. Construction commenced in January 2011 and was completed in January 2012.
Dwight Mayes (NCBA Housing), Diana McIver (DMA Development), and Karyne Jones (President, NCBA) await the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
DMA Development staff — Stacy Kaplowitz, Diana McIver and JoEllen Smith — on hand for the Grand Opening event.
